5 Mental Laws of Success
What is the secret to success? What do successful people have in common? Does hard work equal success? Are successful people unique?
One thing for sure, successful people believed first that they could be successful and everything else followed after that. The precept, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
Our thoughts create the life we have. Our thoughts work and follow specific universal laws. These laws can help us achieve the success we work and dream of. Maxwell Maltz, in his book Psycho-Cybernetics, gave us these 5 Mental Laws.
5 Mental Laws for Success
1. The Law of Cause and Effect
This law states that every action or event in your life, there is a prior cause. Everything in this world has a cause and effect. Our way of thinking will be the main reason for the outcomes we are experiencing in our life. If we want to rebuild our lives, we must change the way we think.
We have to link our thoughts to have an exceptional accomplishment. We must have a purpose-driven life!
2. Law of Control
This law states that you must accept responsibility for a situation before you can change it. To control our life situations, we need to take responsibility for our life. For any change to happen, we need to take responsibility for our thoughts, feelings, and actions.
The outer world of circumstance shapes itself to the inner world of thought, and both pleasant and unpleasant external conditions are factors that make for the ultimate good of the individual. As the reaper of his harvest, man learns both by suffering and bliss.” – James Allen
3. The Law of Belief
Whatever we believe is our reality. We choose what to believe, it is ever-changing, and under our control. Our beliefs are nurtured through the years as a result of time and learnings from life’s experiences. Any change or transformation could only happen if we first believe.
Our wishes and prayers are only answered when they synchronize with our thoughts and actions and if they are in harmony with what we believe in. Everything that we achieve and all our failures is a direct result of our own thoughts.
We act and feel not according to what things are really like, but according to the image, our mind holds of what they are like. Our mental image of ourselves, our world, and the people around us will make us behave as though these representations were the truth, the reality, rather than the things they represent.
4. The Laws of Concentration
Whatever you concentrate on is what you focus on. It starts in the mind first before it can be manifested physically. Our subconscious mind doesn’t analyze and make judgments; it only accepts and attracts what our conscious mind is focused on.
We always act, feel, and do according to what we focus on and believe about ourselves and our environment.
5. Law of Attraction
We will always attract the people and situations that coincide with our current vibration, which can be attributed to our dominant thoughts. “The soul attracts that which it secretly harbors; that which it loves, and also that which it fears; it reaches the height of its cherished aspirations; it falls to the level of its unchastened desires,- and circumstances are the means by which the soul receives it’s own.” – James Allen
What It All Means
Knowing, understanding, and applying these five mental laws will significantly escalate our success rate. We apply the different laws in our daily lives and spontaneously allow things to come to fruition. We also need to take everything that comes to our life in stride. Go with the flow of the waves as they come. Be positive, be creative, and have the confidence that things will happen as they should be. We aim, trust, relax, learn, and do. We do our best.
“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” – Henry David Thoreau
